Qualitative Data Transcribers

Over the last couple of years, client organizations have shown great interest in use of qualitative data to support quantitative evidence as part of evidence-based decision-making especially in programme work. As such, there as been sustained insistence on consultants and firms such as Firstdata to ensure qualitative data is gathered from FGDs and KIIs. In this regard, Firstdata has greatly invested in software and hardware devices to support collection of quality qualitative data. We have identified that whereas data collectors are properly trained and the tools are properly pre-tested, the outputs that are realised from FGDs and KIIs are lacking in terms of quality due to poor transcription of field notes. Firstdata utilizes audio recorders (such as the one captioned herein) to record verbatim discussions from qualitative data collection forums.

The purpose of this notice this therefore to support us to reach out to experienced audio-to-text transcribers for purposes of engagement in transcription works from time to time or on as-required basis. The company does not intend to engage the pre-qualified persons in the actual field data collection, but to share with them the pre-recorded audio transcripts for audio-text transcription purposes only.

Key Qualifications:

  • A degree or higher diploma in a social sciences related discipline
  • Previous experience in transcription of audio field recordings
  • Knowledge of local languages and dialects of communities to be assigned transcripts to process
  • Have access to a personal computer (desktop or laptop)
  • Be persons of high moral character, integrity, professionalism and demonstrated capability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Willing to sign non-disclosure agreement and submit additional KYC information from time to time
  • Available to work remotely and deliver results within strict timelines
